Greenwood Heavy Jet Charter
With room to stand up, a full galley and enough fuel to cross an ocean nonstop, a heavy jet handles the longest trips. We pair your flight with a large-cabin aircraft that has a clean maintenance history and give you a single all-inclusive quote, with no hidden costs.
Why choose a heavy jet over a smaller aircraft
The biggest business aircraft in charter fall in this class: Gulfstream's G450, G550 and G650, Dassault's Falcon 900 and 7X, Bombardier's Global family and the Challenger 850. Typical seating runs 10 to 16, cabins give six feet of headroom or more, and fuel capacity supports nonstop legs of 4,000 nautical miles and up. Range is the main reason to book one, since a smaller jet crossing the country or an ocean may have to land for fuel and lose an hour or more on the ground.
A big airframe can stay in service for many years, but only if it is cared for. A G550 with good upkeep flies comfortably for decades, and one without it shows wear in the seat tracks, aging pressurization seals and deferred entries in its maintenance log. So when we look for a heavy jet, we ask operators about recent inspections and cabin refurbishment, not only the tail number and the rate.
FAA-certified Part 135 air carriers, held to the federal rules for on demand commercial charter, operate every flight we arrange.
What comes with a heavy jet charter
Finding and checking the aircraft
We line up the heavy jets free for your route and dates, then ask each operator about inspection status, the last interior refurbishment and any open maintenance items. You hear everything we find out.
One quote that covers it all
Flight time, crew, fuel, landing and FBO handling fees and federal excise tax are combined into one figure, and you see the total before you commit.
Billed point to point
Only the legs you take are charged. On a one-way trip, you are never billed round trip pricing for the aircraft flying home empty.
Pilots, attendant and catering
Two pilots and a flight attendant usually staff a heavy jet. Your catering is ordered in advance and served from the full galley.
WIFI and pets
Ask for a WIFI equipped aircraft and we will find one, and pets can ride in the cabin with you. Mention both on the call and we narrow the list to match.
Signs a heavy jet is the right aircraft
You are crossing an ocean
Europe, South America or Hawaii from central Indiana is a job for long-range fuel tanks. A heavy jet usually flies it nonstop.
Your group is ten or more
Super-midsize cabins get tight past eight or nine passengers on a long flight. A heavy jet keeps everyone seated in one aircraft instead of splitting the group.
Someone needs to sleep
Many heavy jets have divans that flatten into beds and separate cabin zones, so an overnight flight ends with rested passengers.
You are carrying a lot
Golf bags, trade show cases and luggage for a two-week trip fit in a large baggage hold, often reachable in flight.
The trip is time-sensitive
When a deal or a family matter will not wait, we take calls 24/7 and work to put a heavy jet on the ramp as quickly as the operators can.
How a heavy jet trip comes together
- 1
Talk through the trip
Call and give us dates, passenger count, bags, pets and destination. We ask about runway needs too, since heavy jets require longer runways than many small airfields offer.
- 2
Review the options
We present one or more aircraft with the year, the interior refurbishment date and what the operator reports about recent maintenance. You choose based on facts, not just photos.
- 3
Confirm the quote
You get the all-inclusive quote in writing. Once you approve it, we lock in crew, catering and FBO handling at both ends.
- 4
Fly
Most heavy jet departures for our area leave from an FBO at a larger Indianapolis airport with a long runway. Arrive about 20 minutes ahead, hand off your bags and board.
What drives the price of a heavy jet trip
A heavy jet's hourly rate is higher than a smaller aircraft's because it burns more fuel and needs more crew. Hours in the air and the trip to get the jet to you set most of the total, and we list each part so you know where every dollar goes.
- Hours in the air
- Flight time is the biggest piece. Flying nonstop in a heavy jet can come in under the total for a smaller jet that has to land for fuel.
- Getting the jet to you
- When the closest suitable aircraft sits at another base, its flight to your airport is part of the price. With point to point pricing, you do not pay for it to fly back empty.
- Crew time and nights away
- Trips lasting several days add crew lodging and per diem. On long legs, an extra pilot may be needed to keep within federal duty limits.
- Airport and overseas charges
- Landing, handling and customs charges differ by destination, and flights abroad bring overflight and permit fees.
- Age and cabin of the aircraft
- Newer or freshly refurbished jets may come at a higher hourly rate. We lay out the difference and leave the choice to you.
Questions about heavy jet charter
Something not covered here? (317) 350-1382
What is the nonstop range of a heavy jet?
That comes down to the model and how loaded it is. A Falcon 900 reaches about 4,000 nautical miles, and a G650 or Global 6000 goes well beyond 6,000. Passenger weight and headwinds cut into range, so we check the nonstop plan with the operator before we quote.
Will a heavy jet use a small airfield near Greenwood?
Not often. A heavy jet needs a long runway, more so when fully fueled for a long flight. Most of our heavy jet trips leave from an FBO at a larger Indianapolis airport, a quick drive from Greenwood, Franklin or Plainfield.
How can I tell the jet has been kept up?
Federal rules require commercial charter operators to keep every aircraft on set maintenance and inspection schedules. On top of that, we ask about recent inspections, any open maintenance items and the last cabin refurbishment, and pass the answers to you before you pick an aircraft.
Is there a multi-flight commitment?
No. We have no long term commitments. Each trip is booked on its own, and you pay only for that flight.
How long has your company been booking charters?
For 5 years we have been planning flights for executives, families and groups on the south side of Indianapolis.
